WoW Heirlooms, Explained.

Heirlooms are gear you buy once and share with every character on your account. Their stats grow with your level up to 30, and upgrade tokens push that to 70. Find every heirloom, locate the vendors, and work out what upgrades cost.

Heirloom gear

  • Warbound
  • Learned once, then created for any character
  • Scales with your level up to 30
  • Upgrade tokens raise the cap to 70
  • Never needs repairs
  • (2) Set: Rested experience is used up 30% more slowly.
  • (5) Set: Burst of Knowledge each time you gain a level
  • “No bonus experience since patch 9.0.1.”

Where to buy heirlooms

Each faction has one heirloom curator who sells the full gold catalogue and every upgrade token.

Alliance

Krom Stoutarm

Ironforge, The Library, inside the Hall of Explorers

Horde

Estelle Gendry

Orgrimmar, Gates of Orgrimmar

Finding her in Orgrimmar

Helms, legs, and cloaks are not sold by the curators. They come from guild vendors, and Alliance players often look for a curator in Stormwind, where there isn’t one.

Quick answers

Do heirlooms still give bonus experience?
No. Patch 9.0.1 removed the experience bonus and added a set bonus instead. Its two rested-experience bonuses make your rested bar last longer, which is not the same as extra experience. Set bonuses explained
What does a full upgrade cost?
Taking one armor piece from 30 to 70 costs 18,500 gold. A weapon costs 27,750 gold. Sources disagree on one tier's price, so treat these as estimates. Price your own set
Which slots can I buy?
The curators sell shoulders, chests, weapons, off-hands, trinkets, and necklaces. Guild vendors sell helms, legs, and cloaks. Rings come from a fishing contest and garrison missions. Heirloom rings
Are heirlooms worth it?
For players who level several alts, usually yes: a piece costs a few hundred gold and is reused forever. For a single character, upgrading is hard to justify. The full answer
